M-Powered Band The Echoing Green
Releases New CD
Founded by Joey Belville in 1992, The Echoing Green experimented
with a variety of genres and sonic textures before arriving at the
blend of dance and emotional music found on their latest release,
“The Winter of Our Discontent.” Above and beyond its
unique sound, this record is notable for its almost complete lack
of traditional instrumentation.
"I fell in love with my machines again on this album,”
explains Belville, an award-winning producer, singer, songwriter,
keyboardist, engineer and programmer. “With the exception
of one song, this is a guitarless record. The goal this time was
not to make danceable music, although some songs definitely fall
into that category. It was about making textural and emotional music,
and I think we succeeded in making both an artistically and technically
beautiful record.
The New Mexico-based band, currently signed to A Different Drum,
has released 12 full-length albums since 1994, and has also toured
extensively at home and abroad in support of these releases. In
spite of their busy schedules, Belville and bandmates relish every
opportunity to hone their production skills and delve more deeply
into the digital world.
"I never thought I would say this - but I'm completely virtual
now,” Belville continues. "Both Propellerhead Reason
and ReCycle have played a pivotal part in the making and writing
of this record. And M-Audio has raised a bar in pro audio that I
think will be hard for other companies to match. It's obvious that
their main priorities are product innovation and customer satisfaction.
From the Tampa preamp and Radium61 keyboard controller to the Delta
series audio cards and BX monitors - I'm blown away. I'm an M-Audio
freak."
