| ArKaos VJ: Dual-Monitor Usage with Arkaos VJ ArKaos VJ’s support of dual monitors allows you to simultaneously
display the controls on one monitor and your visual performance full-screen
on another monitor or projector—very handy for live performances. Here’s
the step-by-step skinny on setting up ArKaos VJ for use with two displays.
For easy reference, we’ll refer to the second display (the one your visual
show will appear on) as the primary display.
Device Advice
Most modern Macs inherently have
a connection for a second monitor. This is often not the case with PCs. While
you might be able to plug an old PCI video card into either flavor of computer
and install its driver, this can often cause technical difficulties. If your
computer only has one monitor connection, we recommend using a dual-head
card (such as the Nvidia GeForce4 TI, ATI Radeon, or Matrox) that allows
you to plug two monitors directly into it.
How to Activate the Dual-Monitor
Display in Mac OS:
Simply plug the projector or second
monitor into the available port and your Mac should automatically recognize
it as display #2.

Now make sure the virtual configuration
reflects the physical arrangement of your monitors. You can change the configuration
by dragging and dropping the monitor icons.

How to Activate the Dual-Monitor
Display in Windows:
Enter the Control Panel and select “Display
Properties,” then “Settings.”
If your dual-monitor devices are
configured correctly under Windows, you will see this screen showing the
available monitors:

In the dropdown menu under “Display,” select
the second monitor.

(Click “Apply” at any time to watch
your modifications.)
The projector or second monitor
you intend as the primary display should now show the desktop background. Now
make sure the virtual configuration reflects the physical arrangement of
your monitors. You can change the configuration by dragging and dropping
the monitor icons.

When you are satisfied, click OK
and you will have a working dual monitor display. You will be able to move
windows between the two displays.
Setting Up Dual-Monitor Display
in ArKaos VJ :
Enter the Edit menu and select “Preferences,” then “Monitors.”

If you’re using a Mac, use the “Next” and “Previous” buttons
to select the primary display.
On the PC, use the drop-down menu
to select the monitor you set up in your Windows Control Panel as the primary
display.
You should now be able to switch
ArKaos VJ’s Preview window to full-screen mode on your primary display, and
work with the interface on the other one.
